Suspect Arrested for Stealing Delivery Bike from Local Grocery

While Shomrim volunteers were busy running a community registration event helping residents register their carriages and children’s bikes and scooters, a real-time theft was already unfolding on the other side of town.

A call came into the Shomrim hotline from a local grocery store reporting that one of their delivery bikes had just been stolen. The store shared a description of the suspect and the direction in which he fled.

Although most volunteers were stationed at the registration site, Shomrim still had volunteers out on patrol to help keep the community safe. While Shomrim was responding to the call, the IT team quickly logged in and retrieved a clear image of the suspect, allowing patrolling volunteers to identify him based on the matching description.

Within seconds, those volunteers responded to the area, and just moments later, one of them spotted the suspect fleeing on the stolen bike.

Volunteers began following the suspect while relaying live updates to additional Shomrim units and the NYPD. Just a few blocks away, officers arrived, stopped the suspect, and placed him under arrest. The stolen delivery bike was recovered and returned to the store.
