At around 4:00 a.m., A Shomrim volunteer on patrol noticed a male acting suspiciously while riding a bicycle through the neighborhood. Recognizing something unusual, the volunteer alerted backup and began following him from a safe distance.

As additional Shomrim volunteers arrived, they positioned themselves from different sides, keeping visual contact as the suspect went from house to house, removing mail from mailboxes and filling a bag with stolen envelopes and packages.

While the Shomrim volunteers continued following him as he stole mail from houses, the NYPD was immediately notified and responded to the area. Officers soon arrived, stopped the suspect, and, with the help of Shomrim, placed him under arrest. A bag full of stolen mail was recovered in his possession.
