At the NYPD 66th Precinct’s community council meeting on Thursday, Captain Kenneth Herrarte thanked Shomrim for helping disrupt a robbery spree affecting Brooklyn and Manhattan. Their collaboration with the NYPD has played a key role in addressing recent incidents.
Captain Herrarte reported a decline in moped-related robberies and announced the arrival of six new officers focusing on transit safety. He also highlighted enforcement efforts targeting obstructed license plates and illegal fireworks.
However, car thefts and commercial vehicle burglaries are on the rise. Residents were urged to stay vigilant as the NYPD and Shomrim continue working together to enhance public safety.
