On Friday, just after 4 a.m., Shomrim received a call after a local resident discovered his car had been stolen. Shomrim volunteers responded to the location to gather information and began working on tracking the vehicle. Meanwhile, the Shomrim IT unit analyzed camera footage to identify the suspect.
After considerable effort, the vehicle was located a short distance away, but the suspect had abandoned it. The Shomrim IT unit continued their meticulous review of footage throughout the night, ultimately identifying the suspect and tracking him to a vehicle he used to travel to the area.
Following extensive work throughout the day on Friday, the location where the suspect parked his car was identified. Immediately after the zman on Motza Shabbos, an operation was launched to surveil the suspect’s vehicle.
The operation proved successful when, a short while later, the suspect was spotted approaching his car. Shomrim volunteers coordinated with NYPD officers, and the suspect was taken into custody.
A search of the suspect’s vehicle revealed several expensive items belonging to the victim of the stolen car. These items were returned to their very grateful owner.
Reminder to Residents
Shomrim urges all community members to remain vigilant in protecting their vehicles. Always ensure your car is locked, and never leave your keys inside, even if the vehicle has features allowing it to be unlocked remotely. Taking these simple precautions can significantly reduce the risk of theft.
