Earlier today, a coordinated effort between the NYPD and Shomrim led to the arrest of a suspect involved in a hit-and-run that left a child injured.
The incident began when a vehicle struck a young child and fled the scene. A vigilant witness who saw the accident quickly alerted Shomrim while attempting to keep the suspect’s car in view. Shomrim volunteers responded immediately, working with the witness to track the fleeing vehicle.
As the suspect drove recklessly through the neighborhood, the vehicle caused further damage, crashing into several other cars before finally coming to a stop just a few blocks away. NYPD officers arrived at the location and apprehended the driver.
At the scene of the accident, Hatzalah volunteers provided urgent medical care to the injured child, who is now thankfully in stable condition.
