Be Careful After Leaving Banks or check cashing

Shomrim is warning community members to be extra careful when leaving a bank, check-cashing location, or similar place.

There has been a recent increase in scams targeting people after they withdraw cash. In these cases, suspects try to distract victims by talking to them or creating a situation to take their attention away. While the person is distracted, the cash that was just withdrawn is stolen.

These incidents can happen very quickly, and many people do not realize what is happening until it is too late.

Shomrim is asking everyone to stay alert and pay close attention to their surroundings when leaving financial locations. Keeping your money secure and avoiding unnecessary conversations with strangers can help prevent becoming a victim.

If you notice anything suspicious, do not ignore it. Call Shomrim immediately at 718-871-6666.
