Just 2 days ago in Williamsburg, Shomrim received a hotline call from a person reporting that his expensive necklace had been torn off by two suspects waiting in a car while trying to sell fake jewelry. Williamsburg Shomrim responded quickly and gathered information, but the suspects had already fled the scene.
Williamsburg Shomrim immediately shared the information with all Shomrim neighborhoods. Today, a Shomrim volunteer in Boro Park spotted a vehicle matching the description. Shomrim volunteers began following the vehicle while notifying the NYPD, maintaining continuous coordination throughout the incident.
The NYPD responded and stopped the vehicle, and the two suspects were arrested. Police confirmed that the individuals are wanted by the 90 and 62pct’s. in connection with multiple robberies citywide.
Inside the vehicle, officers recovered a substantial amount of stolen jewelry, including high-value items taken from innocent victims. They also recovered imitation pieces that were allegedly used to replace real jewelry during earlier incidents. The suspects reportedly carried out a “gypsy scam,” attempting to sell fake jewelry or ask for directions, and then, after giving a hug, ripping necklaces off their victims.
Always be aware of your surroundings. If you see anything suspicious, call the Shomrim hotline immediately
