A Shomrim volunteer on patrol around 3:30 a.m. noticed a car stopped at a red light that wasn’t moving even after the light turned green. When the shomrim volunteer approached to check on the situation, he found the driver asleep behind the wheel, with open beer bottles visible inside the vehicle.

the shomrim volunteer immediately notified the NYPD. Responding police officers arrived shortly after and attempted to wake the driver. Moments later, the driver suddenly accelerated and crashed into a parked vehicle.

The NYPD, with the help of Shomrim, arrested the driver following the crash and driving while intoxicated.
