Friday morning, Shomrim received a call for a woman robbed of her necklace Thursday evening by a vehicle with a male and female. We now know this was a Gypsy scam and robbery.
The Shomrim intelligence team sprang into action, tracking the perpetrators’ movements and combing through CCTV footage, ultimately obtaining a license plate from the car. Shomrim immediately notified the NYPD, who put out a citywide BOLO for the vehicle.
On Friday afternoon, the NYPD received an alert from the 109th Precinct in Queens about a sighting of the vehicle, which ultimately resulted in 2 suspects being arrested. A large trove of jewelry was recovered from the car.
It turns out these 2 suspects are wanted for a citywide pattern of the same crime.
