An attempted shoplifting escalated into violence after a store manager confronted a man trying to steal from a local business.

Instead of leaving, the suspect turned aggressive assaulting the manager and overturning store merchandise before fleeing on a bicycle. The chaotic scene left the manager shaken and slightly injured.

Shomrim volunteers quickly responded to the call, arriving on scene to assist the manager and gather crucial details. Hatzolah was called and treated the manager for minor injuries.

While Shomrim’s IT team reviewed surveillance footage to determine the suspect’s direction of flight, other volunteers began canvassing the surrounding blocks. The suspect had attempted to evade capture by cutting through driveways and backyards on his bike.

Minutes later, one of the Shomrim volunteers spotted the suspect several blocks away and maintained visual contact. The NYPD was notified and arrived shortly afterward, placing the suspect under arrest.
