A troubling incident unfolded after a man mistakenly entered the wrong vehicle from a questionable local car service.
The individual had ordered a ride and, when a similar-looking car arrived, he got in assuming it was his. Only about a minute into the drive did he grow suspicious and ask the driver, “Are you my car service?” The driver responded with hostility, saying, “None of your business.”
Realizing he was in the wrong vehicle, the passenger politely offered the driver cash for the brief ride. But rather than accepting the gesture, the driver became enraged. He began to chase the passenger and assaulted him on the street.
Shomrim was immediately alerted and quickly dispatched volunteers to the scene. As the suspect attempted to flee, Shomrim kept him in view and relayed his movements to the NYPD. Thanks to the coordinated effort, the suspect was arrested by the NYPD with the help of Shomrim.
The victim was treated on scene by Hatzolah for minor injuries.
This incident highlights the importance of using reputable car services and always confirming the driver’s identity before entering a vehicle.
