A suspect was arrested after allegedly assaulting a man in front of a local building an incident first spotted in real time by Shomrim’s IT team as they reviewed unrelated footage.
While monitoring camera feeds, Shomrim’s IT personnel saw a violent assault unfolding live on one of their screens. They immediately rushed out to the location, where the attack was still in progress. As Shomrim volunteers attempted to calm the situation, the suspect fled in a vehicle.
Additional Shomrim volunteers were quickly dispatched to help follow the suspect’s car. At the same time, EMS was alerted and responded to treat the injured victim at the scene.
As the shomrim volunteers maintained visual contact with the fleeing vehicle, the NYPD was notified and began coordinating a response. Within minutes, officers intercepted the suspect’s car and placed him under arrest. Other officers who responded to the scene of the assault confirmed the account provided by Shomrim.
Thanks to the rapid response of the Shomrim IT team and the close coordination between Shomrim volunteers and the NYPD, the suspect was located and taken into custody shortly after the incident.
