A bochur who accidentally left his tefillin in a car service was relieved to have them returned after a coordinated effort by Boro Park and Williamsburg Shomrim.
The incident began on the morning of February 26, 2025, when Shomrim received a hotline call reporting that the bochur had left his tefillin in a car traveling from the hitching spot on Kent Avenue in Williamsburg to Boro Park. Understanding the urgency, Shomrim volunteers in both neighborhoods spent several hours reviewing security footage to identify the vehicle.
After determining a likely description and the driver’s daily travel routine, Shomrim issued an alert asking for assistance in locating the car. The following morning, the vehicle was spotted entering Boro Park. Responding quickly, Shomrim followed the car until it came to a stop. They then approached the driver and asked if he had found a forgotten package in his vehicle the day before. The driver confirmed that he had, though he was unsure who it belonged to. Inside the package were the missing tefillin.
Shomrim immediately notified the bochur, who was overjoyed to have his tefillin returned. His gratitude was immense, as was the appreciation for the dedication of Boro Park and Williamsburg Shomrim in recovering such an important item.
