Shomrim Spots Intoxicated Driver; NYPD Makes Arrest Following Early Morning Crash

At approximately 4:15 a.m. this morning, Shomrim volunteers on patrol observed a vehicle being driven erratically near New Utrecht Avenue and 43rd Street. Recognizing the potential danger, a volunteer immediately alerted the NYPD while notifying other shomrim volunteers to monitor the vehicle’s movements.

Shortly after, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a metal garbage can near the intersection. The collision caused damage to the garbage can and nearby property, but fortunately, no pedestrians were present, and no injuries were reported.

NYPD officers arrived on the scene shortly after being notified. Following an investigation, the driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
