Three individuals were taken into custody by the NYPD with the help of Shomrim after they were caught stealing packages and vandalizing a vehicle. A large knife was also recovered from the suspects.

Shomrim volunteers on patrol spotted a disorderly group acting suspiciously and began following them, while alerting additional volunteers to assist with following the group from a distance. After several blocks, the suspects became unruly and vandalized a parked vehicle. Shomrim volunteers immediately notified the NYPD and continued following the group until police arrived.

While tracking the suspects, volunteers observed them stealing packages from a private home. Around the same time, a call came in to the Shomrim hotline reporting the theft only for the caller to learn that volunteers were already on the scene. The caller expressed surprise and relief, noting how Shomrim seemed to be there even before the call was made a result of regular patrols to keep the community safe.

The NYPD arrived shortly after and took the suspects into custody. A large knife was recovered from the group, and the stolen packages were successfully returned to their rightful owner.
