Shomrim Volunteers Catch Mail Thieves in Late-Night Sting

In a dramatic late-night operation, Shomrim volunteers caught two suspects red-handed during a mail theft spree. The pair was spotted moving from mailbox to mailbox, using a screwdriver and an adhesive substance to steal mail. Volunteers quickly tracked the suspects and alerted authorities, leading to their arrest.

Police recovered multiple stolen checks and the glue-like substance used in the thefts. One of the suspects, a repeat offender with a shocking 30 prior felony arrests in the Bronx, also had three open investigation cards at the time of the arrest. The other suspects details are still under investigation.

Mail theft has been on the rise, with thieves often targeting checks and personal documents for fraud. This arrest is a major win for the community, preventing further potential financial harm to residents.
