A frightening night for a local homeowner ended with Shomrim volunteers and the NYPD catching a suspect linked to both a home break-in and a package theft.

The incident began when a homeowner asleep , heard noises coming from downstairs. Nervously, she went to check and was shocked to find a man inside her home. As soon as she saw him, the intruder fled. Acting quickly, she called the Shomrim hotline and provided a detailed description of the suspect.

While Shomrim volunteers rushed to assist, another call came in, reporting a package theft just a block away. The description of the suspect matched the man from the earlier break-in.

Shomrim immediately organized more volunteers to canvass the area. Their efforts paid off when they spotted the suspect walking on a nearby street. Volunteers maintained a safe distance while keeping him in sight and relaying updates to the NYPD.

Police officers arrived shortly afterward and arrested the man. He is now in custody, facing charges for both the home break-in and the package theft.
