Shomrim’s hotline received a few calls about a car driving dangerously through neighborhood streets, swerving between parked vehicles and nearly hitting pedestrians. Witnesses described the driver’s erratic behavior, raising immediate concerns that they might be intoxicated.
Shomrim volunteers responded quickly, locating the vehicle and tracking its reckless movements while keeping the NYPD informed in real time. The driver continued the dangerous path, hitting cars and narrowly missing pedestrians along the way.
The chaotic ride ended when the car crashed into a fire hydrant, bringing it to a stop. Upon inspecting the vehicle, officers discovered several open bottles, suggesting the driver had been drinking. NYPD officers arrested the driver, suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol, and EMS was called to assess the individual for injuries from the collisions.
