A recent burglary in Borough Park highlighted how advanced surveillance technology and strong collaboration between Shomrim and the NYPD can lead to significant results.
After Shomrim volunteers were alerted to the burglary, they immediately began tracking the suspects’ movements using a network of high-tech cameras strategically installed throughout Borough Park. These state-of-the-art cameras, capable of capturing fine details with exceptional resolution, allowed volunteers to follow the suspects’ trail step by step.
Over the course of the investigation, Shomrim traced the perpetrators to a getaway car parked over a mile away. Volunteers continued tracking the car, hoping it would pass by one of the high-tech resolution cameras. After five hours of detailed analysis, the car was finally spotted, and its identifying details were recorded.
Shomrim immediately alerted the NYPD and other Shomrim teams citywide, sharing the critical information. On Friday afternoon, a tip came in that the vehicle had been seen in East Flatbush, within the jurisdiction of the 61st Precinct. Shomrim coordinated with the NYPD’s 66th and 61st Precincts, enabling specialized teams to converge on the area.
The car was located parked in a residential neighborhood, prompting the NYPD to set up a covert surveillance operation using unmarked vehicles. After several hours, the suspect returned to the car, at which point officers moved in and made the arrest.
