A thief was caught thanks to the quick thinking of a neighbor, fast action by Shomrim, and a coordinated response from the NYPD.

It all started when a resident saw someone wheeling his neighbor’s scooter off private property. Realizing it was being stolen, he didn’t hesitate he began following the suspect while calling the Shomrim hotline and giving a detailed description.

Shomrim volunteers responded immediately. As some followed the suspect, others went to the scooter’s owner to let him know what had happened. The owner then called the NYPD, informing them that his scooter had been stolen and that Shomrim was actively tracking the suspect’s movements.

NYPD officers arrived at the location provided by Shomrim and stopped the suspect. He was taken into custody, and the stolen scooter was returned to its owner.
