In the early hours of the morning, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Shomrim received a call from a concerned resident who heard loud noises outside his home. Looking out his window, he saw a vehicle crashing into multiple parked cars.
The caller immediately contacted Shomrim and stepped outside to assess the situation. He attempted to speak with the driver, who had exited the damaged vehicle. Instead of responding, the suspect suddenly took off running. As he fled, he told the caller, “Take my car and leave me alone!” before disappearing into the streets.
Shomrim quickly arrived at the scene and began canvassing the area based on the description provided by the caller. Within a few blocks, they spotted an individual matching the suspect’s description and relayed the information to the NYPD. Officers responded, stopped the suspect, and placed him under arrest.
The driver was charged with driving under the influence and fleeing the scene of an accident after crashing into multiple parked vehicles.
