An impatient driver approached a truck driver who was in the middle of making deliveries, began shouting aggressively, and menaced him with a knife while threatening to slash his tires. After realizing the truck’s large tires couldn’t easily be damaged, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.
The quick-thinking truck driver immediately noted the vehicle’s make, model, and license plate and contacted Shomrim with the information.
Shomrim’s IT team immediately began reviewing footage from the organization’s high-end intelligence camera network. The team quickly spotted the suspect’s car fleeing the scene and turning off 13th Avenue. Just a few minutes later, the same vehicle was seen on the other side of Boro Park.
A nearby Shomrim volunteer quickly responded to the updated location, picked up eyes on the vehicle, and alerted other volunteers while providing live updates to the NYPD.
Shomrim volunteers discreetly followed the vehicle until NYPD officers arrived, stopped the car, and arrested the suspect.
The truck driver expressed his gratitude and amazement at how efficiently Shomrim locate the vehicle even after it had fled to the other side of Boro Park.
