Shomrim received a hotline call reporting that his child’s bicycle had been stolen earlier in the morning. Volunteers responded to the caller’s home, where they reviewed security footage showing a suspect taking the bike. With a clear description and video, the information was quickly shared with Shomrim patrols.

As a Shomrim volunteer stepped out of the house, they spotted the same suspect riding a bicycle while appearing to look for more items to steal. The volunteer immediately began following him while notifying the NYPD, as additional Shomrim volunteers joined in to keep the suspect under observation until police arrived.

The NYPD responded quickly, stopped the suspect, placed him under arrest, and recovered the stolen bicycle.

The caller was relieved and grateful, noting how quickly both the suspect and the bicycle were found.
