Shomrim received a hotline call reporting that a person had just broken into a local shul and removed valuables as the members arrived to the shul to collect information and direction of flight, Shomrim’s IT team immediately reviewed cameras and picked up the suspect running toward the train station, apparently attempting to take the next train out of the area.

Shomrim Volunteers responded and located him sitting on a bench in the train station where when the members arrived shortly afterwards the suspect noticed what was going on, he ran across the platform, and jumped down onto the train tracks, putting himself in extreme danger.

When the NYPD arrived the began speaking to him to come back onto the platform but didn’t want to listen so the NYPD requested ESU to assist. After a lengthy standoff, ESU officers were able to safely remove him from underneath the tracks area, where police placed him under arrest for breaking into the shul and taking property.
