Shomrim Volunteer Spots Car Break-Ins; NYPD Arrests the Suspect

A Shomrim volunteer spotted on his home cameras a suspicious individual walking near parked vehicles and going from one car to the next looking in for valuable items. Understanding the behavior and active attempts to enter parked cars, he immediately requested additional Shomrim volunteers while continuing to follow the suspect.

As more Shomrim volunteers arrived, the individual was seen inside a parked car removing items and moving on to other vehicles. The NYPD was dispatched, and Shomrim volunteers maintained a discreet distance to ensure the suspect’s actions were clearly documented without interfering.

NYPD arrived shortly after and stopped the suspect and arrested him for breaking into vehicles and stealing expensive items from parked cars.

Shomrim wants to remind everyone to take simple steps to protect their property:
• Always lock your vehicle, even if you step out for a few minutes.
• Never leave valuables visible inside your car.
• Always double-check that your doors are properly secured when parking.

If you see something suspicious, call the Shomrim hotline right away: 718-871-6666.
