Two suspects were arrested after stealing a moped, following an alert response and extensive follow-up by Shomrim volunteers.

The incident began when a caller to the Shomrim hotline reported two suspicious individuals dragging a moped into their driveway and appearing to tamper with it. Shomrim volunteers immediately responded, but before they arrived, the caller’s presence spooked the suspects, who fled the scene—still dragging the stolen moped with them.

A few blocks away, the suspects abandoned the moped in another driveway and continued running. Shomrim volunteers quickly located the moped and secured it, while other volunteers maintained visual contact with the fleeing suspects and relayed real-time updates to the NYPD.

Thanks to the detailed information provided by Shomrim, the NYPD arrived and arrested both suspects.

But Shomrim didn’t stop there. Volunteers spent hours retracing the suspects’ path, determined to find out where the moped had been stolen from. Their efforts led them to the rightful owner, who was shocked to learn that his moped had not only been stolen but already recovered before he even realized it was missing.

The moped was returned to the owner, who expressed his amazement at how quickly and effectively Shomrim had acted.
