While on patrol late at night, Shomrim volunteers observed a suspicious group walking from block to block, peering into driveways and parked vehicles. The individuals frequently looked over their shoulders to see if they were being followed. To avoid detection, Shomrim’s IT team monitored the suspects through camera feeds, allowing fewer volunteers to be physically present while still maintaining close surveillance.
As the group continued their suspicious activity, one individual acted as a lookout near a driveway, while another broke into a parked vehicle and stole valuable items left inside.
Shomrim immediately notified the NYPD, maintaining visual contact and providing real-time updates to responding officers. With Shomrim’s assistance, the NYPD arrived at the scene and placed the suspects under arrest.
Shomrim reminds the community that leaving valuables visible inside vehicles is an open invitation for theft. Always lock your car and ensure nothing of value is left in plain sight.
