A violent street robbery led to a rapid response from Shomrim and the NYPD, resulting in the arrest of one suspect just blocks from the scene.

The Shomrim hotline received several calls reporting a fight on the street. Volunteers responded within seconds and quickly determined that the incident was a robbery involving two to three males who had assaulted a victim and stolen his belongings, leaving him injured on the ground.

The suspects had taken both money and personal items from the victim before fleeing. EMS was dispatched immediately to treat the victim for his injuries.

Shomrim volunteers spread out to canvas the area and search for the suspects. Within a short time, one of the volunteers spotted a male matching the description provided by witnesses just a few blocks away. NYPD officers responded to the location and placed the individual under arrest. He has since been charged with robbery.
