Shomrim received reports of counterfeit bills being used at local stores. The suspects were slick, hitting multiple locations and leaving behind a trail of fake cash. But they didn’t count on Shomrim’s volunteers, who quickly sprang into action.

Shomrim’s IT team spent hours reviewing surveillance footage, determined to track down those responsible. After countless hours, they finally had their breakthrough—a clear description of the suspects.
Then, on Friday, a Shomrim volunteer spotted one of the suspects and began following him while discreetly calling for backup. More volunteers joined in, keeping a close watch while notifying the NYPD. The suspect got into a car, unaware he was being tracked by a determined team.
The NYPD was quickly looped in, and officers joined the operation. Meanwhile, the suspects continued their spree, passing counterfeit bills at multiple stores, unaware they were being watched.
The tension peaked when the group stopped at yet another store. Two suspects were still shopping, while the other two were caught red-handed handing over fake cash. That’s when the NYPD moved in, arresting all four suspects. A large stash of counterfeit money was found in their possession.
Local store owners, who had been hit hard by the scam, expressed their relief. “Thank you to Shomrim and the police,” said one shopkeeper. “They really came through for us.”
The suspects are now in custody, facing a range of charges. Once again, Shomrim has proven that when it comes to protecting the community, they’re always on watch.
