NYPD With the Help of Shomrim Arrest Drunk Driver, Two Children Rescued

While on night patrol at around 4:45 a.m., a Shomrim volunteer noticed a man stumbling around in the middle of an intersection. Nearby, a car sat running in the middle of the road with no driver inside. The volunteer quickly realized the man was highly intoxicated and watched as he made his way back to the vehicle and got inside.

The volunteer immediately called in other Shomrim volunteers to keep eyes on the car while notifying the NYPD. Officers arrived shortly after and stopped the vehicle before the situation could turn into a tragedy.

When police looked inside, they were shocked to find two small children in the back seat including a baby wide awake at such an early hour. The vehicle also had heavy damage and several open beer bottles inside, showing just how dangerous the situation was.

The driver was arrested by the NYPD, and the children were safely returned to the family.
