What was supposed to be a joyful Chol Hamoed afternoon turned terrifying when three suspects armed with a knife targeted a child riding a new bike just a few hours after receiving it as an Afikomen gift.

The shocking incident unfolded in the heart of the neighborhood, where families were out enjoying the beautiful weather. Children filled the streets, riding their bikes, laughing, and soaking in the Chol Hamoed vibes until chaos struck.

According to reports, Shomrim’s hotline lit up with multiple frantic calls from witnesses reporting that three males had just tried to steal a bike from a child at knifepoint.

Shomrim volunteers responded instantly. The first volunteer on scene quickly confirmed the incident and began gathering critical details from the young victim, who was visibly shaken. The child said one of the suspects pulled a knife and demanded his bike. The suspects made off with the bike as the child screamed for help.

More volunteers arrived and started canvassing for the suspects and after a few minutes shomrim volunteers located the suspects just a few minutes before police pulled up. The moment the NYPD arrived, the suspects took off running then began cutting through backyards in an attempt to escape. Volunteers kept eyes on all three while relaying real-time updates to responding officers.

Thanks to the seamless coordination between Shomrim and the NYPD, all three were stopped just down the block and placed under arrest. A knife was recovered at the scene, and the stolen bike was safely returned.
