Breaking: Mail Theft Suspect Arrested With USPS Key, Stolen Mail, and Knife

A suspect who had been stealing mail throughout the neighborhood for weeks was arrested by the NYPD with the help of Shomrim.

During the arrest, officers recovered a USPS postal key, a bag of stolen mail, and a knife from the suspect. The postal key had been used to illegally access building mailrooms. Possession and use of such a key makes the offense a federal crime, carrying especially serious consequences.

Shomrim had deployed extra patrol teams in recent days to watch for the suspect, after weeks of packages and sensitive mail vanishing from local buildings. Their patrol spotted him and immediately began relaying real-time updates to the NYPD. Working together, Shomrim and police were able to close in and make the arrest.

Residents expressed relief that the crime spree has been brought to an end,
