After Shomrim received numerous calls regarding a suspicious male spotted walking through Boro Park, the individual got into a Honda Accord he found unlocked on 50th Street and 16th Avenue. He then attempted to drive off, but the car was a newer model, and as the keys were not inside, the would-be thief could not get far.

After the vehicle shut off in the middle of the street a short distance away, the thief fled the scene with Shomrim already in hot pursuit. Although the eighteen-year-old tried to make his getaway via the train tracks on New Utrecht and 55th Street, he was arrested shortly after that by the police department, whom Shomrim called to the location.
